::::I'm running for Mayor of Wichita, KS. tocLevel: 0 Even if for pure entertainment value, you should root for me. Let's get some action on the eye-bleedingly dull channel 7. But you're going to have to vote when you normally wouldn't. Mention my candidacy to everyone you know. Make your own signs, fliers, videos, stamps, tags, sigs, stickers, and Mission-From-God loudspeaker rigs, organize potlucks, pub crawls, drag races and bluegrass festivals. You are the campaign committee. You are the resistance. You are now political insiders. You are the operatives. If you are reading this and you know me, you already know what to say, write and do and where and with whom these sorts of activities would be the most fun. Let's get ahead of the curve for a change, Wichita. Go! Go! Go! We can demonstrate the unstoppable peace of a people who are tired of the games and barely-cloaked deviousness of our government at all levels. We can innovate around the traditional political power structure with the most peaceful of modern revolutions, the socially networked, small-d democratic one. We can pump nitrous right into the power stroke, and laugh off the now-olden days of Big Daddy bully power. Political power flows from the people up through government, not down from on high from some pretending-to-be king and his henchmen. Ideas are bulletproof and bully-proof, once the social energies are allied behind a good one or dozen. We can actually (and I would prefer this) be able to pull this one off as the most finely crafted secret coup in generations. Then we can turn on the oasis powers of Wichita's underestimated capabilities. We are entrepreneurs and artists. We are machinist, technicians, engineers, dreamers and really about the nicest bunch of folks you might ever be locked up in a prison city with. Our government does not reflect our sensibilities as a community. And there actually are some pretty big problems. But such stuff takes more energy than traditional political puppets and hacks can muster. The power of the people standing for themselves, their families and their neighborhoods is who I want to be hidden away in executive sessions with. Let the regular local media try to make sense of it if they want, but I expect and would likely prefer (With the exception of a Mayoral Debate or Town Hall) they try not to. As If my message were not sophisticated enough, them trying to dumb it down would likely be comedy for those who know me and know better.
